Myanmar Adventist church holds her 3rd ministers’ health training on August 23-29, 2010 in Yangon attended by ministers and wives totaling 115 participants from respective mission fields, administers and leaders from union headquarters.

The distinguished resource persons Pr. Houtman Sinaga, ministerial secretary, Pr. Abe Carpena, health ministries director from Southern Asia Pacific regional headquarters, Dr. Blessy Varona of independent health ministries personnel had delivered the effective messages and made presentation as regard to the Adventist health and life style.

The whole training covered WIN! Wellness series which is introduced to Adventist ministers to implement in the respective local churches in Myanmar. The new training series was presented by the resource persons and also had question and answer session. The participants had eagerly raised their question and discussion was taken place. This leadership training aims to train the church leaders in respective mission fields to adopt effectively. (MYUM Communication)

The President of local social organization namely Charity Oriented Myanmar (COM) Mr. Chan Nyein Aung and 16 team members visited Myanmar Adventist Church headquarters on August 12, 2010 at 5:00 PM.

The delegation was welcomed by PARL director of Adventist Church in Myanmar Maung Maung Myo Chan and AWR Myanmar personnel. The purpose of the visit was to exchange and have exposure of organizational operation and management for other faith based organizations. There are many faith based organizations in Myanmar involving in religious liberty and social services. (MYUM Communication)

The Global Mission Training had successfully come to an end on the 21st of August at the Myanmar Union Mission (MYUM) Head Office with the Southern Asia – Pacific Division (SSD) Adventist Mission Director, Pr. James Brauer giving the commencement speech.

The special prayer was offered by the MYUM President, Pr. Muller Kyaw after the 44 trainees had committed themselves to the LORD to serve him with all the best and be faithful to HIS cause. The trainees had been given an intensive training for one month and this included the 28 beliefs of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, colporteur ministry, basic health principles, report writing, ministerial training and basic knowledge of the church logo and the usage. The Sabbath School Department also helped with a basic training on how to conduct SS Classes and the needed information to cover the reporting.

This training was also blessed to have the Pr. Gary Krause, from the General Conference, Adventist Mission Department, spending three days at the training site. One trainee, from the Shan states expressed his feeling by saying “This is the first time I had attended this kind of trainings and it has been a great help for me and my work”. Pr. Muller Kyaw, the Union President commented that he was very inspired with the speech given by Pr. Brauer on the “Three Angels Message” and it had helped him to have a better insight on this biblical teaching. Most of the trainees were wanting to know when the next training will be help and were looking forward to attending again. (Gavin Johns)

On June 17, 2010 the director of Public Affairs and Religious Liberty of Adventist church in Myanmar, Maung Maung Myo Chan and party visited Indonesia’s largest Muslim organization which has 16 million members through out Indonesia. The delegation met with Mr.Ir .HM.Iqbal Sullam , General Secretary of the “CENTRAL BOARD OF NAHDLATUL ULAMA PBNU” and leaders at International Conference of Islamic Scholars, Jakarta, Indonesia.

The communication director of Myanmar Adventist church, Maung Maung Myo Chan visited Adventist World Radio (AWR) Asia Pacific regional office, Batam, Indonesia on June 18-21, 2010. The purpose of the visit was to expend AWR Myanmar program by adding more languages reaching the message of HOPE to unreached people in Myanmar. He was received  by the team of AWR regional office.

It has been the fruitful meeting and discussion as regard to the AWR operations and development of the studio in Myanmar and region respectively. The program director of AWR Asia Pacific Regional office, Mr. Anniston Matthew has explained about the advancement of AWR ministry all over the world.

The visit of AWR Myanmar director promotes not only the working relation between the two partners also strengthens the advancement of the work.

The Adventist World Radio (AWR) Myanmar program has been the essential tool of spreading the gospel in Myanmar. The media ministry drives the result of 14 souls baptized in Kalay district, Sagaing division in Myanmar. It was more than 500 miles away from the capital and having high mountains. The travelling is so hard to reach since the roads and transports are difficult.

It was invited by a group of AWR listeners in the first place of Voklak village Tedim circle, Chin State of Myanmar, AWR Chin language producer Suan Sawm Sang went to the place and conducted effort meeting on April 29 to May 15. The village is small village having only 85 households.  But the entire village population is AWR audience since 2003.

About 300 attendees are in every night program in the effort meeting. This program involves other ministers of Adventist church as well. AWR has also distributed 3 Radios to the vulnerable attendees.

Then, the second place was Singzung in Kalay circle, Sagaing Division of Myanmar. This was 70 miles far from the first village Voklak having more than 400 homes. Though the 80% of the villagers are non-Adventist they are regular listeners of AWR program. The effort meeting started on May 18 and ended May 30. The final day of the effort meeting,  10 souls have been baptized out of 1300 regular attendees.

89 women leaders who had finished all three levels, started from level 1 to 3 have attended in this training and 2 women attended only for this level 4 training. Mrs. Helen B. Gulfan, Women’s Ministries Director of Southern Asia-Pacific Division and Mrs. Ninfa B. Baindosano , Women’s Ministries Director of East Indonesia Union Conference are the resource persons for this training. (Sohila)

The board of trustee has reorganized and installed personnel for the only Adventist higher learning institute of Myanmar namely Myanmar Union Adventist Seminary (MUAS). The board meeting was held at MYUM headquarters on May 22, 2010 at 7:00 PM and appointed the following officials of the seminary;
